CalArts understands that financial aid does not always cover all the charges that a student has for a particular academic year. Below are options to help you find ways to cover your balance.
Parent Plus:
Parents of dependent Undergraduate (BFA) students who complete a FAFSA for the academic year are eligible to apply for a Federal Parent Plus Loan. This loan requires a credit check and cosigners (endorsers) can be used to qualify. The amount listed on the award letter is based on the student's grade level, however through the application process parents can apply for a higher amount, including up to the cost of attendance minus any other financial aid that the student is receiving. Grad Plus
Graduate students (MA/MFA/DMA) who have completed a FAFSA for the academic year are eligible to apply for a Federal Grad Plus Loan. This loan requires a credit check and cosigners (endorsers) can be used to qualify. During the application process graduate students can apply for any amount up to the cost of attendance minus any other financial aid that the student is receiving. About this Estimate
Important: This worksheet is not a bill. CalArts is providing this estimating tool as a means for you and your family to investigate the different costs that may be associated with attending CalArts. Your actual charges and balance owed are determined by the Student Accounts Office and sent to you prior to the start of the academic term. In order to maximize your financial aid, it is important to make wise decisions regarding living arrangements and choice of lifestyle. While personal and transportation expenses are not included in our estimates, we recommend you consider them and budget accordingly.
Important Note
The Office of Financial Aid understands that sometimes a family’s current financial situation may be drastically different from the prior tax year as originally submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In these situations, on a case-by-case basis, a review of your financial information may be warranted. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid to discuss your situation following payment of your enrollment deposit.
